Question How often do you change oil?

Hi Guys...

For argument sake...this is "ONLY" on dino. oil 5/20-30 etc (SJ)

Do you change according to elapsed time...i.e. 90 days etc.

OR

Do you change according to how many miles since last change?

Difference being...towing/city..stop & go/hi-way/time of year..etc.

Thanks for any input. Good luck...OT

I change every 5,000 km (3,000 miles) regardless of the time in between changes.

Cool

HI!... I change my engine oil every 2500 - 3000KMS no matter what. I do a tranny fluid change/filter once a year no matter what and the same goes for rear end fluid.

I change mine every 3-4,000 miles...Synthetic or Dino oil does not matter.

2500 to 3000mi. I will do it sooner if it's more than 90 days. I will get fresh oil before and after a long trip. I will have to follow NEAL's example on the other fliuds!

I change every 5000 or 3 months, whichever is first.
Reason being that conventional oil is as good as synthetic for the first 5000 miles but conventional oil absorbs moisture, fuel and other contaminants easier which is why the 3 month rule.
My wifes Altima owners manual calls for 7500 mile intervals but since she drives only 6000 miles a year, I have that car on the 3 month plan.
Changing synthetic oil every 3000 miles would be a waste of money.

My dealer has set the oil change interval at 5,000 miles or 6 months. It usually ends up being every 6 months.

For regular back and forth to work, I change mine between 5k-6k miles (Mobil 1 synthetic). When I used dino I would change the oil every 3k miles. I switched to synthetic because I drive around 600 (mostly open road) miles a week and changing the oil every 4 to 5 weeks gets old and pretty fast (especially when you haven't taken the oil from the last two changes to be recylced).

If my driving conditions are more servere than regular (like in the summer when I'm pulling the PWCs around every weekend), I drop the change interval down to 3k-4k even with the synthetic oil.
