Miss fire on 5.4 usually when damp. Please help.
I have been experiencing an intermittent misfire on my truck. It has only done it once in a while and usually when it is raining, but it has done it once when it is dry outside. I took it to a friend with a scan tool and it said that there is a misfire in #4 cylinder. What is the most likely cause of this? I did try to do a search before posting with no luck. Any help will be appreciated. The truck is a 98.

Unfortunately, 8 coils means 8-times the possibility for failure.
My '97 developed a mis-firing coil around 18,000 miles -- and, of course, when I took it to the dealership, it was working just fine.
It was replaced under warranty and the engine ran flawlessly again (traded it at 42000 miles and running great).

This is usually caused by a cracked boot or carbon tracking.
Moisture in the spark plug well can also cause this. I believe the coil and boot are replaced as an assembly.
