2000 RPM in Neutral
This problem started about a week ago. I have a 5 speed and whenever I'm on the freeway and then exit, my RPM's stay at 2,000 even when I shift out of gear and have it in neutral. I roll up to the light as if I had my foot on the accelerator. And then when I get going again, it's as if I don't take my foot off the gas pedal. I change gears at 2,000 RPM and when I'm going from 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, the RPMs will stay at 2000 even when I have the clutch in and no foot on the gas. Have an idea of what the problem might be?

F150Y2K,
I'm sorry I have no explanation about your high idle problem. If I had to guess I'd say your throttle cable could be hanging on something, but you've probably already thought of that. The actual reason I'm replying is that I saw where you installed a double-DIN deck in your dash. I have been told those units don't fit in F150 dashes. Just wondered if you could tell me how you got it in there. Again, sorry I'm not replying to your actual question, but I appreciate your feedback. Good luck!

I had the same problem with an '88 ranger and was solved by cleaning the IAC (Idle air control) it is a metal cylinder just a little larger than a shotgun shell, bolted on top of the air intake maniford. I unplugged and removed the sensor, took it apart and cleaned the carbon out of the inside and that cured it. On the ranger this is a 5 min. job.
