Diesel 150?

Is there a diesel that will fit in a 1990 F150? It's losing 1 qt. each 300 miles, but I really like the truck, and I'm tired of gas engines...

You can make anything fit anywhere if you want to. Like the 460 in my 86 mustang. Anything can be done. Keep in mind I didnt say easy.

physically actually making a 6.9 or 7.3 diesel fit into your truck would not be all that hard (relatively speaking). in '90 the f150 throught f-350 were all the same body style, so technically i guess the engine bay would hold a diesel.

The real problems as I see them are this- you would have to change the front suspension to accomodate the weight of the diesel (900lb)
You would have to change the entire fuel system from tank and all fuel lines.
your radiator support would have to be changed because now you will need an enormous radiator
of course you Will need new transmission/driveshaft/rearend -no 8.8 axle is gonna withstand a powerstrokes torque
all eltronics on the truck will need replaced-presumable you would get these from same source as the engine though

WHY NOT JUST BUY A F-250 WITH A DIESEL IN IT ALREADY AND SAVE $$ AND HUGE HEADACHES

Also you will have to spend money to beef up the front end. Get heavier duty tires too.

That diesel engine is a monster as far as weight goes.

Gassers aren't all that bad!!!

Though I would just hold out a few more months and the New V-6 baby powerstoke 150 will be out.

Can you say 30mpg??? and pulling power like all get out!! Too bad my truck is still like new

Thanks for all the feedback...
msparks, I've heard about the supposed 6 cyl. diesel for some time now, but none of the local dealers are willing or able to give out any info...
