Failure on coil pack #4 - info needed

Folks,

I'm currently on a fact-finding mission to gather as much info on the number of #4 coil pack failures experienced, which we all know is due to the leaking coolant hose above it. I just had mine fail on my '00 Expedition, and have heard of way too many of these failing for the same reason. Please help by emailing me the following info:

Name
Model / year
Engine
4x2, 4x4
Mileage of failure(s)
Cost (optional)

Sorry for the long post. I don't know what the outcome of this will be, but I'm going to give it a shot. Pass this on to anyone who could provide info.

Thanks,
Ken

My friend with a 97 F-250LD, 5.4, had the #4 coil go out. I told him about the heater hose leak but he doesn't want to believe. Since then he has replaced 3 other coils.

I have had two #4 coil packs go out under warranty.....they "forgot to tighten the hose clamp" after the first one, so I was back in roughly 4 weeks later to get a new one put in my truck.

I had the same exact thing happen. Ran rougher than a cob on 7 of 8 cylinders. Dealer fixed it for free under warranty. Dealer said common problem starting at the factory. That was two years ago and no problems since then.

Oh wait, that was on my original motor! Not my current motor.

Dealer replaced mine after fixing oil leak problem. Tech forgot to tighten coolant hose. # 4 coil replaced at 23+K miles. I also purchased another one for backup from www.fordpartsonline.com.
