Angry Fuel Milage

:I have a 2000 F-150 off road super cab that sucks for fuel miage, I get about 8 mpg highway.
I have taken it to several ford dealers and they all ake me the same question... does your light come on??
What light??? the only light I ever see is the low fuel light when it is done sucking all the fuel.....
I get better mileage on my peterbuilt....mad:

Can anyone out there help.

Which motor do you have? I'm assuming that you have 3.55 rear end. Have you modified the truck in any way, or is it completely stock?

One more dumb question. Are you driving in 4WD or is there a large trailer in your rearview mirror?

Do you have a fuel leak somewhere? I can't believe otherwise that it is running that rich. You'd should be chugging out black smoke at 8mpg unloaded.

Do you have extra large tires that throw off your speedo?

8 mpg ... wow that's really terrible! I average around 13 mpg in my Y2k F-150 4x4 ORP, super cab w/ 8' bed. The worst I've averaged was 10 mpg and that was towing a boat w/ a bunch of stuff in the bed! I've got as high as 20 mpg, but that was driving it for work - I was doing the speed limit on state roads so that doesn't really count.

How heavy is your foot? Much idling? Teenager driving it?
