Oil filter help
I had a 1998 f-150 4.6 supercab and the oil filter was in a A#1 spot. So when I purchased my 1999 f150 super cab with 4 doors not 3 like the previous year. I never in my wildest dreams thought they would completely relocate the filter to a Ridiculous spot. I have changed transmisions quicker then my oil filter. Can anyone please help me out. I must be missing something it cant be this difficult.
It's a pain, and even worse if the filter has oil and grime on it. The only suggestion I can give is when you buy a new filter; get the K&N oil filter. It has a 1" nut at the end. It's alot easier using a 1" stubby wrench to get them off in the future.
I know exactly what you mean! My 98 5.4L had the remote oil cooler and it was so simple to change the filter.
My advice is to turn your wheels all the way to the right (to passenger side)...to move the Pitman arm out of your way. It extends from the power steering pump to the tie rod and is right in your way with the wheels aligned straight ahead. This will give you a clearer path to get to the oil filter and make it easier to remove the old filter and install the new one. After the first change...it will not be that difficult.

Thanks Guys for the Help, This is the second oil change i've done on this truck. And i dont remember what the hell i did the first time to get the filter off. I went with amsoil so I wouldnt have to change it as often. I will Try the KN filter, that sounds good since there is a nut on the end. Thanks again.
