Question K&N Filter Installed, Reset Computer?

I've heard it's a good idea to "reset" the computer after installing a K&N filter. What's the best way to do this? I installed it earlier this evening and disconnected the battery cables. I was planning to reconnect them in the morning. Will this do the trick or is there more to it?

From what I understand, you should disconnect the battery and turn your headlights on for about 5 minutes to drain all of the electrical components of their current charge. Then reconnect the battery and you're done. I would certainly think that an overnight battery disconnect will accomplish this...

I reconnected the battery this morning before work. The first start up took a couple seconds longer than before the install and all the gauges spiked. I took this as an indication that the computer had in fact reset itself. The following start ups have all been normal. No extreme "seat of the pants" improvements noticed right away. I haven't had it out on the highway yet so it's hard to determine any throttle response at highway speeds (passing etc.)

When the gauges "Spike", that tells you the computer has reset.
