Question 9 psi on my powerdyne.

i have a 6 psi on now.a 9 psi pulley is $65.00 .if 6 psi gives 100 hp peak what will a 9 give peak.i think if at say 2500 i have 2 psi with a 6 pis,i should have more boost at that same rpm with a 9 psi maybe 3.5 psi.it should spool up faster.more boost at a lower rpm.if anyone has done this help me out so i don't do this and it's not worth it.because this will void my two year warr. but if it gives me 30 to 50 more hp i will do it.a overhall is 400 or so.if it wares out in 50000 miles O well.the way it is now they say 100000 mile life.

Kevin,
Hi i just installed a Powerdyne on my 2001 Screw 5.4. I am wanting to put a boost gauge on it. Did you install one on your truck? What kind of pressures are you seeing with it and a 6 psi pulley. At diffrent RPMs? Where did you tap or connect into to read pressure and how did you do it. Any information will be grateful. I also have the 9 psi pulley but dont want to install until i install the gauge and can chart the psi of the 6 psi pulley. (I have the Auto Meter Boost and A pillar pod}. And then i will do the 9psi. Any information you can give will be great. What kind of 1/4 mile times before and after and 0 to 60 times before and after? Thanks a lot

I have a Paxton NOVI making 8 psi (no experience with Powerdyne). I know from installing the kit that you need to adjust fuel and timing. Paxton's kit comes with an additional fuel pump. Make sure that you have enouh fuel pressure if you are going to increase to 9 psi. Make sure that there is no pinging. The guys at Paxton said that I could increase my boost levels with my supercharger system but that you should not run high boost on a stock engine.

Is 8 psi ok without engine mods? Are you happy with your performance? Do you have any 0 to 60 or 1\4 mile times? At what rpm are you hitting 8 psi? sorry for so many questions. Are you going any higher on boost?

Thanks Rick

I live in Los Angeles so there is limited locations to test the Expedition on the 1/4 mile. Based on my experience with my Mustang I would estimate 14.5-15.0 seconds at 95-100 mph. Not Mustang acceleration but pretty quick for a 6300 pound 4x4. The supercharger made a huge difference from stock. The standard acceleration was not enough. In answer to your question about wanting more---Don't we always want more? The car is fun the way it is as a daily driver with almost 50k miles. I am seriously considering having a motor built with forged pistons and rods so that I can run 15-20 psi. That would be some serious power.

Kevin,
I have the boost gauge installed on my truck now. With the stock pulley it is giving positive boost at about 2000rpm at 2500rpm it is 1 psi. at 5000 rpm where my truck shifts at WOT it is 6psi. If you want numbers between those two i will post. Where are you going to buy the 9 psi pulley and do you know the Diamater? Thanks

Rick

todabone i got my cost. chip from mike today.wow'''' what a diff. the truck moves way better now.i got a boost gauge on to.at 4500 i have 6 psi.some of the time i have boost at 2000 like a 1/2 psi at 3000 i have 3 1/2 to 4 psi.this is at wot.in OD at 70 i have 1 psi.with the OD off i have none.my truck has oversized tires on it.so when i gun it after 1 gear it takes time to clime the rpms.if i got gears on it boy would that help.but at$1200,i don't know if it's worth that.so i my get the 9 psi pulley to make up for the tires.i have no pinging with the chip.that a plus.

Hey Kevin3636

I also posted this in your other post. This is from a previous one I have done. I have been running 9lbs for about 12000 miles without any consequences or funky noises yet. https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/002207.html

I haven't had an official track time but the G-Tech Pro tells me my best is 13.6 @ 109.8mph and 0-60 is 5.48sec. Though right now it is more like in the mid 14's with the temp in the upper 90's/80%+ humidity. I am running it with the 9lb pulley.

Around 2000rpm I have around 1.5-2.0 psi, 4500-5000rpm 7.0-7.5 psi, and at other rpms I can't recall. When I drive home I'll try to remember. To be honest I only saw about .5 improvement @ 2000 rpm and I especially noticed that it pulls harder at 4000+ rpm. But in your case I would just leave it as it is w/the new 2 year warranty.
But what can I say, look at what I did to mine. I am still worried since I have heard horror stories with people running over 6psi w/ the Powerdyne.

well i took my truck out for some hard stop and go.with the new chip all i can say is wow.on the boost i got 7 psi,at 6000 rpm.befor i had the chip moved to 6200 stall.i could only get 6 psi.1 psi from getting a higher rpm.if 6 psi cost me 2000,thats 333.33 for each psi.1 psi with a reburned chip is worth it.

Hello,
Kinda off the subject, but since you all have Powerdynes,I thought I would ask. I'm interested in getting one. Could you please tell me how you like them and if you noticed a significant power and torque improvement with it. Or would you go with a different brand. I like the simplicity of it and the price seems right.

Thanks for any help.
Scott
