Red face Added Horsepower?

I was wondering if any of you know how Ford was able to increase the horsepower of the 5.4L engine from 235 to 260. I have a 1998 F-150 and in 1999, Ford was able to increase the horsepower using the same size engine. I've added the a K&N AirIntake system and installed a FlowMaster.....but I am looking for some more power!!! ;-)

Thanks,

Don't know how Ford did it, but most of the gang around here go with the Superchip. They claim 10-12% HP increase and 15% torque increase. I got one for my truck and I can't argue with those figures.

I have a 98 and my brother has a 2000. His car stock was definetly faster stock than mine when it was stock. Mine has a Paxton NOVI supercharger and can blow his car away. He has been talking to Paxton about supercharging his car. They said that the kit had a little different tuning because the 2000 had higher compression. I don't know if its true. You might want to ask them at 888 9PAXTON.

The 2000 5.4L heads are totally different. The intake ports and intake manifold runners are a whole lot bigger than before. When you order a head from the dealership they will ask you if they are "horsepower improved" heads. You might be surprised on how cheap new heads are for the 5.4L due to all the problems that they have had with the oil leaks and blowing the spark plugs out. I think that a decrease in low end torque is traded for the extra horses.

Question

KCs004x4: In your response to Rojas, you have answered a question for me. Thanks.

I do however, have a question regarding the difference (if any) in power between the 2000 and 2001 5.4L engines. A friend and I are both ordering F-150's with the 5.4L. He however, may buy a 2000 model off the lot, while I order my 2001 S/C Lariat. My friend wants to make sure I do not get an unfair advantage!

Thanks
