Ever since I owned this truck it has had a some what stumble at start up sometimes then clears right up. Finally today it started with such a miss and sputter that the engine light blinked rapidly and then finally stayed on. Its a 97 4.6 and only 50K on it. The computer must have registered the miss on the cylinders and brought up the code. I don't really want to by a code tool but if anyone has the software that you can plug in the ODBII with your computer I would appreciate if you can give the address where you got it from.

 

I have a 97 4.6 4x4 with 51K and the same thing happened to me. I took it to the dealer and they ran diagnostics on in and came up with bad compression in cylinders 3, 5, and 8. 42 days later, They finally fixed it with a new engine. Good luck
