My 82 300 6 cylinder has started to make a pecking noise. I have been told it could be a lifter. Would engine treatment that says quiets noisy lifters help? If it is the lifters how much would it cost to get it fixed at a local garage?

 

If it's a "sticky" lifter, I've heard of some success with Marvel Mystery Oil.
