I have a '99 and I know the feeling. I haven't changed mine yet, but I understand they are under a rail. So there aren't really plug wires. I think....

Hi FordE2,

Your 5.4 motor uses a COP (coil over plug) setup, so you don't have traditional spark plug wires. The spark plugs themselves are located in a recess in the cam covers, like an old Mopar Hemi engine. So they reside basically in a little "well" in the cam covers. You will see a small "hole" in the valve cover ("valve cover" is not the exact correct term in this overhead cam engine, but that will suffice) for each spark plug, and down in there is where the spark plug resides.

Hope that helps,

!!Are you serious?! Even though that sounds really cool: Hemi engine (he he), that sounds like a pain to swap the plugs for some aftermarkets. Are they covered or concealed by something, like a specific cap for each plug/coil?... cuz I cain't see nuttin.

I know the owners manual told us each plug now has their own coil... And I'm stoaked n all, but damn. I'd like to see some of these phenomenons.

They're not as hard to change as everyone makes it sound. Change them when the intake is off and just before you install the blower! I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself.
