Oil, Filters, 'final answers' and... where?
gofish,
You could go longer than 1 year if you did oil analysis. The one year thing is Amsoils thing, I guess so folks just don't put the oil in and never change it.
If you did analysis at the end of the year I'm sure you could extend it a lot longer, but then you would be better off with a by-pass.
The franz is a good idea, until the toilet paper falls apart and clogs every nook and cranny in your engine???
And what is up with the changing every 2 months. Our goal is to do less not more. How much do you use in make-up oil?? Lets see, at least 1/2-1 quart every time you change the TP filter. So you are at least using 3 extra quarts per year, but I would bet probably on the lines of 6 extra quarts per year???
Does the franz remove water, or fuel??
With the Amsoil by-pass you would only need to change it maybe 1 time per year and possibly once every 2 years, would need analysis to back yourself up.
Also you would not need to change the oil for maybe 100,000 miles or so, maybe longer. So how is that more expensive than the franz??
You are actually saving money by using this system!

I use Fram filters, and Mobil 1 10w30 in my 351W. I also change the oil right around 3000mi, as it needs a quart right about then anyway. I would like to see someone try to run 25,000-35,000 mi on a oil change without topping it up, especially on a car with forged pistons! Wouldn't have much of a motor left afterwards.
