Post ? for What Ranger? about Flex-a-lite fan

What Ranger

I can't find a fan for a 99 w/5.4L
Where did you buy your fan?
How much did it cost?
Are there any other models available from Flex-a-lite?
What comments (pros/cons) do you have about it?

Thanks

Well, I'm not the Ranger, but maybe I can help. From all the previous posts, people have installed (Flexalite) the Black Magic 150, 210 and 250 which is designed for large Chevy trucks. Prices range from about $180 for the 150, $200 for the 210, not sure what the 250 goes for. I bought my 210 from http://www.summitracing.com . Their prices are very good, as is their service imho. Flexalite provides a complete kit including adjustable hydraulic thermostat, with an AC relay. Permacool is another manufacturer that some have used also and is carried by Summit racing. I think an electric fan is a worthwhile upgrade.
Hope this helps.

Cool

Are you talking about the electric fans from flex-a-lite or the flex-a-lite fan that straightens out at higher rpms? Does anyone know how much difference between cooling properties and horsepower gains there are between the flex fans and the electric fans? Seems I remember reading from the mustang corral site that the flex fans was one of the first mods that should be done. I wonder whay they recommend this over electric fans?

Just Curious

I looked up the Summit website and the link to flexalite. I'm sure I could find a way to bolt on the new fan, but direct replacements are much cleaner and time saving. I didn't even find a listing/application for our model engines. You feel ok not being sure this fan will cool your engine like it should... even though, yes, your temp gauge shows no overheating?

I got mine from a local speed shop that odered it directly from Flex-a-lite. The 250 was not available at the time. I am quite happy with the Black Magic 150. I have had mine off-road now numerous times as well as alot of bumper-to-bumper summertime traffic and the temp gauge does not move. http://www.summitracing.com/ is a good place to start if you don't have performance shop that can order it for you.
