VELOCITY TUBE RESULTS
Thanks mlaugh for the link!
I ordered it due in part that I have the 80mm MAF w/ filter and would not make sense buying an FIPK/Airaid kit. Only thing left to "modify" to my blower was the intake tube/airbox.
I plan on modifying the airbox in a similar fashion as the airbox mod. in the Tech. Artic. Section.

What timing, Way2Big! I was just going to look for a supplier For the WMS tube, and this discussion was sitting on top of the list. Thanks for bringing it to the top.

P.S. Don't forget you're looking at Canadian dollar amounts. I did, and almost had sticker shock!

I'm wondering if it would make sense to just remove the existing 'snorkel" that goes through the fender and replace with 3.5 " hose. In my truck's case the factory "snorkel" has a 2" opening at the fender which tapers out to 3 3/8" I.D. and 3.5" O.D. opening on the airbox. And I have seen quite a few performance cars with the same type of intake tube between the air box and intake as our's, so our's can't be that bad unless there is some restriction inside that I'm not aware of. I will try the 3.5" hose routine and see what happens.
Jerry.

JerryH:
Heres what the air intake looks like with the fender removed...the stock setup is very restrictive.

bodyside mouldings, Snuglid hard tonneau, K&N dropin, airbox and frsh air mods. Red Outerwears pre-filter.
Duraliner drop-in (gave up on the Penda Nascar). Gibson Supertruck. Ford 2-piece bra. Catch-All floor mats. Image tail light covers. B-Quiet sound dampener in rear of cab. **** pile rug protecting spare tire (Raoul made me enter this)
No door cracks yet at 13K!!!

Jerry H- there have many threads here about removing the air cleaner housing fender extension. Some use 3" PVC pipe. Standard PVC pipe requires some modification. Thin wall 3" landscaping drainage PVC fits the inside of the air cleaner housing snug, and can be squeezed slightly to allow a fit through the fender opening. It allows the factory quiet unit, which breathes cold air, to breathe 3" instead of 2". It can be then improved with the K&N drop in filter. This setup costs $5, but does not compare in top end horsepower to the K&N or AirAid FIPKs.

Thanks Marv and Max,
Marv, for some reason the picture you attached won't open with AOL.
Is there any restriction inside the intake tube that runs from the engine to the airbox that you know of? I picked up a plumbing 3"x3" coupler at Home Depot for $5.95 this morning. It slipped tightly over the end of the airbox that I removed the fender extension from. It fit's perfectly on the airbox and presses firmly against the fender. I would say the ID of it is 3.5". Made out of thick rubber and came with two stainless clamps too.
Maybe I'll pick up a short piece of that thinwall pvc to insert through the fender to help insure the new plumbing adaptor stays lined up.
Thanks guys, Jerry.

JerryH,
Like this?? I used the clamp to squeeze the end into the fender. It's larger than the factory one and no problems at all. I was gonna buy the Velocity Tube. But I figured I can go to a muffler shop and have them bend me one with a exhaust pipe.
Hey Roushfan-1, What is the diameter intake tube (filter housing to throttle body)?

Jupiterak,
Yes I do like it...I'm headed to the garage now to try it. I will probably go the bent exhaust route too if this flex plumping coupler mod doesn't satisfy me. The exhuast pipe can always be painted whatever color you want to....although if the shop had some stainless tubing the right size that might be cool.
Thanks, Jerry.
