Funny engine/tranny problem

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2001 F150 SC 4x4 ORP with a 5.4L and auto. I have several issue that I think are related. Here goes:

1) At idle in Drive, it turns 600 rpm and seems to shake a little. Not much, but enough to feel it inside the truck. If I put it in Park, the rpms go up to 800 and it smoothes out (but just a bit).

2) When I accelerate slowly, it seems that the torque converter is still spinning too much. Kinda feels like the tires are slowly spinning on gravel. Takes about half a second, then it hooks up. No funny noises, but a slight grating or grinding feeling.

3) When I put my foot into it (maybe 1/2 to 3/4 throttle), first gear still shifts at very low rpms (2000) and quick. The truck then shudders a little while second "hooks up." I haven't floored it yet (only 500 miles), so I can't say if first gear holds until redline.

To me, this sounds like a torque converter problem. But I would like some expert opinions before I take it in to the dealer.

I am also going to fight for the correct radiator. Mine is a 1.02', but the CURRENT literature says 1.42" for the 5.4L, auto, and SC or Screw. Go here (http://fordtruck.fordtraining.com/20...s/f150_css.htm) and here (http://fordtruck.fordtraining.com/20...1&vehicleid=17) for more info.

Thanks in advance for all of the input!

I can't edit, so a few pieces of left out info:

1) All of these symptoms are minor and somewhat difficult to distinguish/describe. It's not like the truck is running crappy. I would imagine it takes a very particular (read: **** ) person to notice this behaviour.

2) The second provided link, click on Towing , then Class III at the left hand side. It shows "Super Cooling." To me, that means that the cooling system in different/better than the stock cooling system.

Thanks again!
