Question headers and high flow cat. converters

in a recent search for a high flow cat. converter for a 97 F-350 w/460 i was told none were availible due to the OBD2 (on board diagnostic) emmisions systems ford started using in which the emmisions are monitored before entering and after exiting the cat converter. i was also told the computer would shut down the engine if the readings were not "in specs". has anyone experienced this problem and/or knows of any way around it? also looking for direct bolt on headers for the same truck. any suggestions?

First thing. Crawl under your truck and see if there is an O2 sensor after the cat. I bet there isn't. If there isn't then the computer could care less what your cat is doing. Sorta opens up some options now huh? It'd be a shame if that cat fell off while boondocking...LOL www.truckperformance.com lists a set of Doug Thorley headers with crossover pipe for your truck. Kinda pricey at $646. DIS at www.dieselpage.com has a Banks kit. It isn't cheep either. Both Borla and Gibson's headers stop at 1995.
