engine fit in bay
i am wondering if a chevy 350 will fit into the bay of a 97 f150. it has a 4.6 in it now so not much change in size, worried about the mods that may be neccesary to make it fit. In case you are wondering why I would do this, I just bought a 350 for a different vehicle and 2 weeks later, a deal came along on the truck that I couldnt refuse. I got rid of the chevy the engine was to go into and now have the engine. The 4.6 has 150,000 miles on it and will soon need a new one. So, thats why I am trying to get it into the bay. am i just wishful thinking?
Turtle,
Get in touch with Summit Racing. I think they offer engine swap kits, although I'm not sure about your specific application.

As for size it would most likely fit. But, you would probably have to use a 350 transmission to go with it and a computer from GM. Why stop there. With a bore and a 400 crank the 350 could be a 383.
How would you ever get it to pass the smog test. Almost any inspector could tell the Ford engine did not look like that?
Take two aspirin, lie down and you will feel better. (just kidding)

Have you considered your driveshaft, trans mount, accessories (alt/AC/PS), cooling system, wiring, etc. Make sure you research these factors also as to minimize surprises later.

If a ford 351 will fit a GM 350 should.... but dam... a lot of work. Engine mounts will prob be different. Trans mounts, Flywheel, Drive shaft, and most of all the electronics.......

Well, I tried to get information from Summit Racing and they could not help me. They did not know whether it was possible or not. As far as the emissions goes, I am going to register the truck in New Hampshire or Vermont where they dont have the emissions testing.
