First Oil Change
I just changed my oil for the first time (on this truck that is) at 1800 miles to Amsoil 0W-30 and an Amsoil SDF-11 filter. Ford should promote the engineer that thought of the plastic drip pan beneath the oil filter. What a great piece of engineering…sometimes it's the small things that make all the difference. Also, there are many schools of thought regarding when to change oil, break-in schedules etc. Most of the opinions are "old wive's tales" with little basis in engineering fact. If you have a chance, check out http://www.tfb.com/sdmc/oil-13.html and you'll understand why I've been using Amsoil for more than 10 years.

Guys,
Some of you are newer members here but this has been discussed in depth previously so I will try to be brief.
I let my factory oil do its job until the first oil change (3 months/1750 miles) then went to Mobil 1 and kept to the factory change intervals for warranty purposes.
Viper, Corvette and Porsche come with Mobil 1 from the factory. BMW gives its new car customers Mobil 1 at the first oil change. "If these people don't know engines, God help us."

Dustoff..
Yep, mine is plastic. It's probably cheaper to manufacture and maybe there's less chance of the tray resonating to produce noise. But you're right...it's nice to have. I've had more than my fair share of vehicles with horizontally mounted filters. You pull off the filter and the block gets covered in oil...I LOVE this truck!
