Switched to Mobil 1...

LBC150 --

Recently switched to Mobil 1 5w-30 because I heard synthetics were better. I have been running a lot of 0-60mph runs, 1/4 mile runs, and HP runs using a G-Tech pro meter to measure them. It's not the best way to measure, but its better than nothing.

Since changing to Mobil 1 my 0-60 times have improved by .2 sec, but my 1/4 mile times have stayed the same. So I can't be sure the better 0-60 times are because of the Mobil 1 or some other factor. Rear wheel horsepower has not changed significantly. There doesn't seem to be any significant change in mileage yet, but it is still too early to tell for sure. I will be installing a flip chip next week so I will probably never know for sure about the mileage.

Bottom line is I haven't seen any significant performance improvement, but I feel pretty good about the ability of Mobil 1 to protect my engine...my 2 cents.

LBC150...

I use Mobil 1 0w-30 in the Winter.... and 5w-30 in the summer...
I change the oil 2 times a year.....
Once before Summer...
Once before Winter...

In between those 2 changes.... I change the oil filter and add 1 qt.. every 2k miles.... easy as that...

I have another pickup, fore which I have used this method.... for 12 years..... and I have over 190K miles on the small block V8....

It runs smooth as silk.... and Uses only a drop between Oil changes....

I would recommend.... Mobil 1-Royal Purple-Amsoil-Red Line...
any of these will do you, and your motor Proud...

Hope this helps some.... Synthetic is a bit more costly...

But... Your motor will thank you, with many trouble free miles...
