What Is It??
Changed my PCV Valve. It comes off the valve cover on the passenger side of the engine. I also have something in the same location on the drivers side valve cover. It is connected by a larger tube to my intake just before it enters the Throttle body. Anyone know what this is and does it need service (replacement)?
HI!... WLF : The hose on your driver's side valve cover does'nt have any sort of check ball like a PCV. It's just simply a hose that goes from the valve cover to the air intake tube. When the engine is running it creates a vacuum past where that hose connects to the intake tube. This in turn is just like a poor man's crank case evacuation system. It keeps pressure from building up in the block and also prevents from blowing seals/gaskets. The draw back to this set-up is that it also sucks a very tiny amount of oil residue into the TB and TB ELBOW and makes them dirty. The LIGHTNING guys are installing a K&N oil breather filter in it's place and plugging the port on the air intake. The problem with this is then the engine sucks in unmeasured air behind the MAF and will cause you to run lean. SUPERCHIPS has created a custom program for this to compensate but it's only for the LIGHTNINGS and not us guys with the regular f-150's. FIGURES!
