Ford Remote Oil Filter Installation Complete
Well, it is installed, but it wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. Whoever invented those @#%^&*!! hose clamps that they are using on the radiator hoses needs to have a 2x4 smacked up against the side of his head. What a royal pain in the rear!!! I only had to remove the lower radiator hose where it attached to the block, but it took two hours of fighting with the thing before I could get it locked in the open position. Then to top it off, the darn thing is bonded to the hose so you can't rotate it.
(I would highly recommend if you ever need to replace either radiator hose that you carefully cut the clamp away from the hose with a razor blade and then use a good old screw type hose clamp)
Everything else went right into place with no problems. The new casting fit perfectly. The radiator hose slipped right back on the new neck and was secured with a real hose clamp. The oil lines bolted up to the new casting and are clear of all things that might move. The filter head even fit the holes in the frame! All I have left for tomorrow is to install the Fumoto Oil Drain Valve, add new oil and check for leaks. With the luck I had with the radiator hose clamp, a leak somewhere wouldn't surprise me.
