Question Engine Tuning

I'm looking for some opinions on making my Triton V8 4.6L Truck produce the most horsepower that I can. I race down at the local dragstrip and just want to get up there with some of the 5.0's, I run 10.325 in an 1/8 mile now. But I'm looking to do more. I am looking into headers, FIPK's, and the superchips, hopefully for graduation a supercharger (NOT LIKELY) I can dream.. and you know the advertisements for almost anything you can't believe.... So if you could give me some opinions on what product combinations would give me some good output, then i would greatly appreciate it.. Thank you for your time..

JJ

First thing is to open up the air pump! In other words, give it more fresh air and free up the exhaust some!

MODS I did on a Z28:

stock Z28 (LT1, 2.73s, auto) 14.1 @ 99

Mods:
Jet coated Headers
3" Y-Pipe
Cold Air intake
Increase fuel pressure by 2-4 lbs
Larger Throttle Body
ALL Synthetics
3.73 rear
Pulleys
Flowmaster 3 stage with SINGLE outlet
Hypertech Power Programmer 3
160 Thermo

Best performance:
13.1 in qtr
106.5 MPH
1.69 60'

Average performace:
13.3
106
1.8

ALL on streets! Never got to use slicks...

So as you can see, these aftermarket parts DO help... I am sure the car would do mid 12's easily with slicks!

NOTE: Each part helps the other. So you will greatly benefit from doing all the mods not just 2 or 3.

I agree with Rand, you gotta open up the intake and exhaust. I would also put some 4.10s on there even though you have the 3.73 gears. One more note I also recommend the Trans Go shift kit or the Baumann (if I spelled that right). The Trans Go shift kit on mine combined with the Superchip helped alot on that sloppy shifting. That's just for starters though. You gotta get you a supercharger POWERRR!!!!!

Sean Hyland Motorsport is actually starting to do quite a few things with Ford truck. I've had them doing my Lightning. On their website you can see quite a few options, and what can be expected out of each mod, kinda a quick way to see what can be done and go from there.

Thumbs up

Big 3 bang for the buck = FIPK, Superchip, cat-back exhaust. Is your 3.73 rear a limited slip? If not, a posi rear and some tires that hook up(no wheel spin) will lower your ET's.

3" cold air box modification,Superchip,
Dynomax ultra-flow welded 3" cat-back.

Hey guys,

Did you order your trucks? Exactly how are you equipped? Do you both have 3.73's?

Are you hooking off the line?

Anyone else have any E.T.'s?

Jackhel- Can you e-mail me a link to your site? I couldn't get connected. And yes, I am going to steal some images for my photo album.

Crash

Try the link again, I know the server yesterday for my site was doing maint. If you can't just email jackhel@yahoo.com.

To make a long story short about my truck. I went to pick up a different truck that the dealer told me about the previous day but by the time I got there they sold it. So they had a Nascar truck on the showroom floor, I told him if he gives me a deal I would take it off his hands.
