my truck is auto.....and get this... my friend went with me, and he has a '99 firebird v6...man, i killed him. (but he couldn't get good traction) we lined up right next to each other, then lights turned yellow, yellow, yellow, green!!! and we took off...he was spinning throughout 1st and 2nd gear, but by then i was already 2 seconds ahead, and he had to play catch up. i ended up beating him 15.953 to 17.021 !!!!
by the way, he has; headers, exhaust, k&n air intake, catalytic converters, synthetic performance oil, homeade ram air setup, 5spd 3.8L v6...
.....me........stock 4.6L v8
birds, camaros, and ponies.....be ready.....i've only just begun.....

Very nice run, Silver!
I bet it felt great to beat that bird, hehehe! Get a chip! Get a chip!! I've been wanting to run mine since I bought it, but have never gotten around to it. I'm really curious to see what this truck will run.,,,,98

I WONDER WHAT MY TRUCK WILL RUN IN THE 1/4 MILE? IT'S A REG. CAB 4.2 V6 W/5-SPEED. IT HAS A FLOWMASTER DUAL EXHAUST, AND I RUN SEMI-SYNTHETIC OIL. MAYBE LOW 16'S OR HIGH 15'S? I DON'T KNOW. JUST GUESSING. DID YOU KNOW A 4.2/STANARD CAN BEAT A 4.6/AUTO?

hahaha ....we'll see WOLVERINE.... i think with it being a 5spd, it would run a 16.5 - 16.8..... on the track it sux having a manual transmission...u loose to much traction in 1st gear. well....that's what the '99 bird guy said happened. give the track a shot and see what happens.
thanx, cya later

What if I were to put a set of slick radials on mine an do a real good burnout? Would I loose traction in first then? I think not. It would hook up like a Stealth Bomber on a missle raid over Pakistan! Ha, ha, ha, right back at ya!

Very nice run...

Silver --

I saw another 4.6L post times of 16.823 ET @ 90.12 mph. 0-60 was 8.53 sec. I can't remember who that was, but I wrote it down under "4.6 stock." Don't know if this was an auto or 5-speed. Seems like a pretty high top end huh?

There are some 4.2L quarter times listed there.

REALLY LIKED THOSE THREADS ROUNDBOY. I HAD NO IDEA THE V6 COULD GO THAT FAST. I'VE NEVER HAD MINE TO A TRACK, BUT I WILL WHEN I GET ALL MY MODS FINISHED (AND PAID FOR!) I'LL POST TIMES WHEN I DO.

4.6's love to wind up high. I don't think a 4.2 auto or standard could keep up. That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it, LOL! I'll race ya Wolverine!,,,,98

ANY DAY 98SCREAMER. I'D BEAT YOU BY A TRUCK LENGTH. YOUR AUTO WON'T WIND OUT LIKE MY FIVE-SPEED, AND MY TRUCK WEIGHS LESS, AND YOU ONLY HAVE 5 OR 10 MORE HORSEPOWER THAN ME. THE WAY I SEE IT MY 4.2 HAS 205HP STOCK. 215HP(ADD 10) WITH THE EXHAUST. YOUR 4.6 HAS 220 OR 225("STOCK" AS YOU SAY) IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN, YOUR TRUCK WEIGHS MORE WITH THE V8 AND BIG OLE' AUTO-MATIC TRANSMISSION. SO I THINK I WOULD WIN. AND THAT MY FRIEND, IS WHAT I'M STICKIN' WITH. WISH WE COULD RACE TO SETTLE THIS LITTLE DISPUTE.

I ran a 16.52. I think the manual transmission is a disadvantage because it is sloppy. My time was my first time running. I didn't really know what I was doing. I think I could easily be in the mid 15's with my preasant set up.
