Swapping a 302 into a 95 F150

I'm trying to pick out a motor for my truck. Right now I have a 4.9L I6 with a 5 speed but it's just not powerful enough for me. I think I'd like to go with a built Mustang 302, how easy would would they be to swap in? And which years should I be looking at? I can get complete 94-96 302s pretty cheap, would they work? I also found a nice 302 that was originally in a 96 Explorer and a 95 Cobra 302, any problems with those? Thanks

Do a little looking and maybe you can find a 351 Windsor. They seem to be the engine of choice right now.

I assume you know that you have to worry about computers and harnesses etc. that have to be integrated/swapped...it sure isn't like the old days

I used to switch out old Ford v8 all the time....the hardest part was finding a place to work on them...

You sure have got lots of room, regardless of which engine you choose....

Probably, the transmission will NOT align and the engine mounts may be different....I never did a 6 to a V8......I did do a 302 to a 390, and had a lot of stuff not fit right.....I simply went back to the doner vehicle and scavanged all the stuff.....LOL

if you are going to do an engine swap, get the 351 swap at least. Dont mess with the 302s. while they are a great motor in the stangs that weight about 3000#s, they really need to be built to be a good motor in a truck. The 351 is better to start with. 49 more cubes and you can bore/stroke out to 427 if you really want to. just more potential there.

I have the 5.0 in my '96 F150. If you want to save yourself a headache find a 351. I like the 302 but the truck just weighs too much (6400lbs).
