New Truck
Well after having a 4.2 v6 and thinking of modifying it to get more power I decided to trade in my 1999 Standard Cab v6 xlt on a 2000 Supercab XLT 5.4 liter 3.55LS / trailer package. I think it requires to much money to bring a 4.2 up to 5.4 power and you never get the low end torque. any options I should have added on top of that?

Welcome, you will be glad everyday that you got that limited-slip rear. That setup also gets you the larger rear end. My tow pkg included a payload pkg, HD electrical, and the cooling pkg. This year/setup should have also included 4-wheel disc brakes. This is the platform for a excellent truck. Enjoy!!

If you are thinking of getting a soft tonneau cover for your truck, order it with the truck. It's an excellent cover and from what I understand, it's covered under the new vehicle warranty. :-) I love mine and it was way cheaper from the factory than getting any other high quality aftermarket soft tonneau. I don't remember the exact cost, but it was under $200. Something like $150 or $180.
If you go with a drop in liner, buy it from the dealer. The Ford branded liner is of excellent quality and again, it's very reasonably priced. I think they still come with a lifetime warranty, but you'll have to check on that. Usually, you can get the dealer to throw it in with installation.
You may want to get it with the rear slider. I hardly ever open mine, but it just doesn't seem to look right to me without it.
Remote entry (remote key fob) is handy. Don't know how I ever lived without one before.

I would get the keyless remote entry ($150 MSRP, $128 dealer cost)and rear slider($125 MSRP $107 dealer cost). Good choice on the class III trailer towing package. Either the single CD player ($190 MSRP, $162 dealer cost) or 6-pack CD..unless you plan on installing your own aftermarket.
I would also get the FORD bedliner...they look sharp and cost about $285.00 retail.
4 wheel ABS is standard for the 2000 XLT trim.
Once you get it...consider adding a Superchip for extra power and much better tranny shifting (provided fuel is not $2.50/gallon + )
. Check out the computer chip section on here for more info.

DarnEFNET:
I think I have just what you're considering. The only difference is that mine also has the "Sport" option. Hey, if the drop in liner is already $285, just cough up the extra $50 and get a Linex spray in liner. You won't get the rattling around (as a matter of fact, a spray-in is a great sound deadener)and static electricity build up that the drop in gives you........

What is the Dealer your getting it from? If you don't have one, you might try Diffee in El Reno? They seem to have good prices. P.s. I have relatives who've bought from them.

Well after 3 days of the new truck I love it. The 5.4 liter makes so much difference over the 4.2 in the old truck. The limited slip is nice in the rain. I did get the factory single disk cd player and had a matching spray in bedliner put in. I do have the 4 wheel disc as did my old 1999 XLT did. So far my only advice is, if your looking at buying a f150 please consider the 5.4 liter over the 4.6. I drove a 4.6 for a week while waiting on my new truck and I honestly feel there is more power difference between a 4.6 and a 5.4 then the 4.2 to the 4.6. Alos look into the LS rear, nothing was more frustrating then trying to pull my boat up the boat ramp burning off the right rear tire.
