Air Intake Mod

I am looking at performing the Air Intake Mod to remove the silencer in conjunction with doing the Air box mod in the technical
articles section of this web site.
Has anyone ever performed both of these mods together?
Any problems from doing this?
How did it effect Gas mileage?
Would you do the mod again if the opportunity existed?
Any help/comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

I haven't tried it and I would suggest against it. Your engine is not going to get any more air, it already gets all it needs. I read a thread a while back where a guy did this and other mods and then had some haed trouble. The factory voided his warrenty because of it.

I would suggest doing the airbox mod, but dont know about the other part. All you have to do for the airbox mod is make a retaining ring. And it does effect gas mileage but not much.

I second what 97 said. The airbox mod is harmless, but if you can afford it, JCWhitney is selling the K&N Gen II intakes for less than $200 right now. The filters are far bigger than the drop-in's and they've got chrome on the ends. Also, the air track included eliminates the need to remove any silencers.

Good luck

Yes you will get some increased airflow..and if the mod is done correctly, you will be just fine. Increasing airflow to your engine will not harm it at all.

I decided to go a head and order an Air Force One instead of doing this...that way I can put the factory parts back on should I decide to sell it later.
