O.K. this may sound stupid but I was out checking out the engine in my truck the other day and for the life of me I could not find the spark plugs. I thought maybe I just couldn't get the right angle to see them, but after looking at the engine pics posted by BadAngler I couldn't see them there either. So what gives?

Ford puts a coil on top of every spark plug on the 5.4L engine. Can't see the plugs for the coils. This way of doing things really works well. Enjoy your engine and leave the plug change for someone who REALLY knows what they are doing. It's hard enought on the 4.6.

Except that the only coil I've ever (1965-1998) had to replace was on my 97 5.4

Actually, looking at my Y2K F150 4x2 w/5.4, I think they are easier than the 4.6L in the 4x4 Expedition.... doesn't take a step ladder!

The plugs are (under the coils) next to the fuel injectors.
