Cool

I agree with the +4 part (a racers trick), but not the platinum. Everybody's quick to jump on the platinum bandwagon. If the truck or any vehicle did not originally use platinum plugs I would stay with the factory style. I have seen platinum plugs do more harm than good on a motor that did not use platinum plugs from the factory. I do not know for sure if the plugs in our trucks are platinum or not, as I have yet to pull one (dreading that day from what I read).

97 and newer trucks use platinum plugs. Thats why they claim 100,000 miles before tune up. I also recommend the Bosch +4's.

Kenwood 4011 stereo, USAcoustics 2150 amp, Profile electronic 3 way crossover, 2 10" IDQ DVC's.

FUTURE STEREO MODS:
Memphis components in front, Pioneer 3ways in rear, amp for the components, and a cd changer.

FUTURE PERFORMANCE MODS:
4.10 gears, Edlebrock shocks, supercharger, Airaid, power pulleys.

OTHER FUTURE MODS:

I like the platinum advantage as well, but am not liking Motorcraft right now... I've gone through three sets of plugs in the past 65K miles (could also be shop-theivery, or some other problem. Although thorough testing hasn't indicated any components failing) in my Taurus.

But the Bosch 4's have the best technology available in spark plugs right now. Fancy stuff that.

I have the +4's and I personally noticed a smoother idle, but other than that it was just a $50 tuneup. I would recommend to anyone who is going to swap plugs to pull the wires and use compressed air to blow out the plug wells! I had a lot of dirt in the well of one of the plugs I pulled, so I blew the rest of them out before proceeding.

Yes go with the new Bosch Plugs. From what I read they are the new way to go. Good Luck

Just a reminder to everybody. From what I have read, if it is time for new plugs, even the basic plug will return 3-5 hp that you had lost with widening plug gap. So its awfully hard to tell the difference between the fancy 4+ and the standard plugs at the time of change. Splitfire makes that claim: "gain 3-5 hp with our plugs". To be honest, almost every plug manufacturer in the world could make that claim.

Thumbs down

I got 15MPG normal driving and 11MPG pulling 3000# boat before the change and I still get 15 & 11. Glad I pulled out the stock though. The stocks were up to .020" over-gapped and a few of the plugs were rusted from standing water being in the plug well. I can't imagine that I am the only one who has seen this. Anyone else have rusted plugs and dirt in the plug wells?
