Angry Engine Failure

There is currently a recall on 1997 engines for a timing cover problem. When you take your truck in for this item do not let them preform any other work. After service is performed there is a very high incident of Engine Failure ! Ford knows this but will not tell you. Replacement will be a minimum of 5 weeks maybe more. Every one should notify any and all truck owners of this situation.

There are more messages about this issue elsewhere on this board.

Do you have any theories?

Hendw-

You Should check out the 4.2 Engine Recall message board. My baby blew the next morning after the repair.

I have yet to get a real explination from the dealership service dept.

There is a class action suit over the 5.4L piston slap issue, I think it is time to explore this option for the 4.2L owners.

Plus o matter what they say this repair de-values your truck- I know I tried to trade mine in!!
