Vibration in Engine
After reading the post below on the proposed class action suit because of piston slap, I'm someowhat hesitant to bring up my problem. (I've mentioned this before). The situation is: 2000 F-150 Supercab V-8 5.4 that vibrates at 2000 RPM (when in neutral) or 64 MPH on the road. Can feel the vib in the steering wheel and in the seats. Engineering tech checked it out today and says it's definitely in the engine. He states that it is something that most 5.4 V-8s have. Not too encouraging. He went on to say that if I were to order another truck of the exact same specs, it would probably vibrate also.
The vibration is not acceptable. It is very uncomfortable when driving.
But...it looks like I'm stuck. It truly makes me wonder what got into me to buy this Ford.
(The dealer did have an F-150 5.4 on the lot and let me drive it...no vib here!)
Anyone have any ideas as to where I proceed from here, if at all?

You are fortunate to have it show up repeatedly with the vehicle not moving. Have someone jamb a 2x4 between your exhaust pipe and the frame in several places and see if the vibrations stop. Ford isn't hanging weight on the exhaust pipes just because they have extra steel lying around.
So far, my 5.4 is one of the smoothest engines I've ever driven (knock on wood)-- and is noticeably smoother than my '97.
P.S.: Someone posted an interestingly similar issue and fix at: https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/001776.html
