I'm thinking about putting the K&N filter kit on my 2000 model 4.6 V8. Has anyone experienced check engine light problems after instaling this kit? Dealer says it voids that specific item for warranty purposes if I install it. I've already added the flowmaster and couldn't believe the results I got. WOW! Reason for the K&N.

dunno why about the light. but the crap about the dealer no covering it under warranty, that's just a bunch of BS.
You are protected by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which makes it *illegal* to void your warranty, or to even deny a warranty claim, just because you have aftermarket parts installed. Hell, Ford sells a few cars (Cobra R) with a K&N. So they can sell cars with a K&N filter, and then say they can't fix something because an after market product might be causing a problem.
I would take the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, and go stick it up your dealers ***, and tell them they have to fix it, or face a law suite. Plain and simple.......

I saw a post here where someone else and the check engine light after installing a K&N filter. After taking it to the dealer they found the filter had too much oil in it and the oil got on the Mass air flow sensor.

Just another thought.

Yeah, that kinda of attitude is sure to get you satisfaction. First, I'd make sure it wasn't the filter. One guy over oiled his and it did, in fact, affect the MAF sensor. You can't expect Ford to fix that under warranty. Otherwise, discuss it with the manager and explain the Moss-Magnuson thing. Also mention to him/her that many dealers sell the K&N through their parts department. I wouldn't even threaten a suit. If it comes to that, just do it. The mear threat may turn off any chance of getting voluntary compliance. When I hear those words, all discussion stops and I give the other party my attorneys name. I tell them all future comunication is to be made through him.

 

They are correct. You have no worries concerning your warranty. I just added mine last week and boy has it made a difference. I bet I get about 19-20 mpg out of this tank. What flowmaster did you add and did you get the whole system.
