Sometimes hard to start

Greetings: Any of you have this problem? The motor is a 2001 5.4 I have no problems starting it in the morning, and no problems running around town starting and stopping as I go. When the truck sits for an hour or so, it is real hard to start. I find myself having to crank it three or four times to get it to take, then it fumbles a bit, then starts surging like crazy ( the exaust stinks ) then it runs fine. Figured I would get your feedback before heading back to the Dealer.

Hopefully, all you do is turn the key when you start it? You gave no details of your starting procedure.

Leaking/held open/dirty fuel injector(s)--maybe? Tell us what the dealer determines.

sounds like a sticking IAC (idle air control valve)
when its hard to start next time crack the throttle SLIGHTLY
if it starts right up you know its the IAC.
good luck
