Ok, I give! How do you measure 0-60? Please don't tell me you use a stop watch and your factory speedo because that is inaccurate.

A more common measure of vehicle performance is 1/4-mile elasped time and speed, which is easily measured and documented at a drag strip. Unless you are a magazine or auto manufacturer with the proper equipment, 0-60 times are unobtainable for the average guy (and not worth discussing).

a g-tech was proven fairly accurate against dragstrip times and by radar at the same dragstrip (Milan) 0-60 times were right on the money. trap speeds were off by a few tenths

HotRodSix,

I know this is not a totally accurate. But I did hear that the G-tech and others were pretty close, besides I live over an hour and a half from the closest track each way.And all I wanted to do is get a round about number for fun and for those of us that don't get to the track that often. So I'm sorry if this post offended your technical side.

If you have to use a stop watch, make sure you have a buddy running the watch while you drive. Let him call out the start when he hits the button, and he stops the watch when you yell out at an indicated 60. Repeat at least 3-5 times. If you got a decent start each time and the results are pretty close, you have at least established a baseline to measure future mods. If you can't get consistent results, it just proves HR6's point.

If your truck is as slow as mine, you can use a sun-dial instead of a stop watch.

Forgot sig- mine is a 4.2 SC auto XLT

can't, dials in too much timing for blown nitrous, could cost me a motor. i'm not keeping the happy gas on there anyway, so i didn't change the chip to #2pos/nitrous.

That is smokin!!!!!!!

I don't supose anyone in the Lewisville area has a G-Tech they would let me run with. My 0-60 times might not be as fast as the 5.4's due to torque but would like to see. Hey, you might have some more ammo to use against me in the Great Truck War! Anybody?

SweetChevy,

From what I hear those 5.3 Chevys roll along quite nicely.

By the way and IMHO from 2 experiences, us 4.6 guys should not be too eager to tangle with any 5.4 Ford F150. My SuperChipped 4.6 had his clock cleaned with 2 stock 1998s. Just don't mess with the Big Guys.

I know Fast46Triton will be somewhat chagrinned about this but it's just the facts.

Well that makes me feel better about paying the extra $800.00 or so for the 5.4L.
If I would have got the 4.6L I would have ended up spending the $800.00 on mods.
