Bad Cats

I have seen posts of bad catalist in cats what are the symtoms and is it warr in the 100thous mile limit on emisi ? M y cats make a loud poping sound and after pulling my camper it idles a little rough and doesnt feel as strong.

Do you get then popping sound when your AC is on? The drain is right over the right side cat and sounds like water being dropped in hot grease. It's getting cooler so that may not be it.

Emissions warranty is 5yr/50k miles...unless you have extra coverage or something.

As far as I know popping is pretty normal unless it's just really bad. Cats don't go out very often. Most commonly they might plug up.

What year truck? How many miles on it?

Question Bad cats?

My 2001 had the two rear O2 sensors wire harness jammed on backwards, so they read backwards, causing the truck to run waaaay to rich. The cats stunk to high heaven for 5,000 mi. until a 3rd. dealer finally fixed the problem. I am now running a straight though 3" exhaust with no muffler using a Flowmaster "Y Pipe" and it's still not very loud at all. How can I find out if my cats, especially the first set, were plugged from overheating & burning excess fuel inside of them?
