Question Remove air tube?

I was wondering if it would be OK to remove the "tube" that comes from above the grill the the bottom of the air box. It looks to be quite restrictive. Is it? Would changing the size of the opening throw off the tuning etc? Would it pull hotter air from the engine compartment? It seems to me that the airaid does essentially the same thing with a beeter, bigger filter. Thanks for your help. -- Martin

Which tube are you talking about. Check out other thread called removing silencer. Is this anything like what you are looking for??

As for throwing off tuning. It takes more Fuel to make more Power. It takes more Air to burn more Fuel. Cold air is denser and essentually burns better than warm. I think you will find what you are looking for in the other thread though!!

It sounds like MWK is talking about a pre-97 truck. You are right--the intake is small. I put a K&N kit on my 95 that used under-hood air. It might help some to remove that inlet tube.

Maybe that is why I couldnt make sence of it. Sorry for the misunderstanding. When you have an older one like that and dont say so it is hard to tell.
