Question Smoking 4.6

A co-worker just bought a 2001 supercrew with the 4.6 V8. It was less than a week old with about 700 miles on it when I observed it emitting a cloud of white smoke when started. It only did it once. He took it to the dealer. Dealer found no problems. My question is. Have any of you had the same problem?

I know they say there is no break in period anymore. That's all I can think of though. Hopefully that's all it is.

The SOHC 4.6 had a bad problem with Valve stem smoke but that was only in higher mileage engines. The MAIN thing is that he got it documented by Ford so if it does turn into a problem later on he will have a history.

A white cloud of smoke at start up could just be moisture in the exhaust system.

Now, blue smoke would be a whole different reason for concern.

I went camping with my brother in law and when he started his with 30,000 miles, I saw a puff of blue smoke. I didn't have the heart to tell him about it. At least he doesn't have the door crack "yet".
