It sounds like the dealer's service dept is without a competent mech to do the job. I would take it to a dealer that has done some engine replacements. My dealer told me not to worry that his mech had done about twenty motor replacements just like mine in the last year and it showed. I took a drop light and checked every inch of the engine compartment and could not find a scratch!! If not for the block numbers I would not have known they had even been in there. Don't let some hack practice on your baby!! You can take it anywhere you want. You may not even have to get it checked out again. Just tell the lady how you feel about a new hire working on your truck and she should understand. Good luck! P.S. I had the leak!

Red face Am I Getting the Run Around on My Slapper Replacement??

I took the "Slapper" in last week duing the last cold front of the season and the Tech said the two words I wanted to hear "....Replace Engine..." Well the service manager tells me she has to call Ford and have them, I guess aprove it and send them the engine. She said it would be about 3 weeks.

Well I call today to see what Ford told her and she tells me that she hasn't, or can't order the engine untill she gets a "Heavy Line Mechanic" She figures she'll be hiring one this week.

Does this sound right or is she blowing smoke up my ****??

NEVER hesitate to take your truck to another dealer! She might be on the level with you...but you paid a great deal of money and deserve quick answers and a top notch mechanic...not a 'newbie' due to the fact his history is, honestly, UNKNOWN.

I would not wait for the new mechanic if I needed my truck fixed.
