Question Reset Engine Computer -- Odd downshifting?

Last weekend I reset the computer by disconnecting the battery cable. I checked with the dealer first. This was done as a simple attempt to fix my rough idle. Simple was right -- it simply did not fix anything!!
Only thing it did was to make it do some odd
downshifting when coming down from higher speeds. I read somewhere in here this was to be expected. My question is how long does it take for the computer to get back to "normal"? BTW my truck is a 99 SC 4X4 short bed with the 5.4 engine. P.S.I also smelled the burnt oil smell when in the mountains of Colorado a month ago -- haven't smelled it since.

From what I have read here it can be immeaditly or as lng as 1200 miles, they all seem to very, I would give it a few days and if it does not change I would have it looked at. Hope this helped.

You may have read my response in another topic. I have a '99 with the 5.4L and the downshifting changed two times. Once when the dealer did some work on it and recently when I reset the computer on purpose.

The strange deceleration went away within a week of driving.

My computer was recently reset by the dealer. Within a couple of days the downshift returned to normal.
