Post chevron techron additive

After reading about CTA, I purchased some for my wife's Taurus. Now my wuestion is, would it be of value to run a bottle thru my 4.6 '98 f250 ld with 40K miles that seems to be running just fine? TIA

It wouldn't hurt. I have a 97 F-150 with 50k on it and I try to run Chevron through about once every 20k. I didnt notice any big difference in mileage or performance but any gunk that had accumulated is wiped out.

Be sure to run Techron before your oil change.

What has the oil change got to do with it?

All the crud the techron cleans off your injectors, pistons, etc gets displaced into the oil (makes it black and cruddy). Get your oil changed a few weeks after the techron treatment.

I have a couple of problems with this type of treatment,

One it is expensive,
Two, only doing it every 20k, what happens in between? Your injectors and intake valves are getting crudded up.

I use Amsoils PI which is a little more cost effective and it works, only 1oz per 10 gallons. So I put 2oz in per tank. The whole bottle treats 160 gallons.
http://amsoil.com/products/api.html

Also you can use it for an initial clean up dose of 6oz per 10 gallons, then use the 1oz there after.

I had a mechanic test is on an emission machine and he said it really worked well. Allowed a person who failed before to pass without doing anything but the PI.
Now that mechanic sells it to customers!!

Triton is right. The Techron cleans off the carbon from around the piston rings too and this gets blown down into the crankcase. Techron is amazing stuff.

Hey guys,

I've been using Techron since I purchased my Expy. Besides for the oil change after each use, I've been wondering about the fuel filter. I know that I will not accumulate as near as much as the oil, from the carbon, but what about the other "things" that break free in the tank from low grade gas?? Any thoughts?
