A new F150 or keep the Expy
A new F150 or keep the Expy
In the times of 2.9%/60 mos I can buy a new F-150 4x4 SC Lariat for the same money per month as the 99 4X4 EB Exp I currently have. Same motor, rearend, leather, CD, (although not the same radiator and probably not thae same trans). I add 12 more payments for the F150 and lose the equity I have in the Expy, but also gain three years of warranty/tires, etc. But I give up 4 corner leveling and AWD. I tow a 25 foot boat, so towing capacity is important, and the F150 wins here too. I also hate putting all that boat "stuff" in amongst that nice leather. . The F150 has its problems with radiators, cracked doors, poor crash tests, which I don't hear about in the Expy community. Also, I found the F150 drivers seat awfully uncomfortable. Both run the risk of 5.4 P/S. Kind of worried about the F150-seems a little less rugged overall. Dealers won't trade out radiators as a condition of the deal, because it"got the right one in it". Tough decision for me? Never owned a F150. I need to move on this quick. Would be interested in others thoughts.
Do you carry passengers that won't mind sitting in the cramped area of an extended cab? Just something else to think about.
It's all a crap shoot anyway. Buying a brand new rig, no matter what make or model, you run the risk of getting a lemon. I personally have never owned a brand spanking new rig. Can never seem to bring myself to lose thousands of dollars the second it drives off the lot.......

From a purely financial perspective, keep what you have. I've read several financial advisors who note that, on average, people who keep their cars for ten years before trading will save between $350,000 and $450,000 more than people who trade cars every three years.
You will get solidly whacked on depreciation.
