K&N

I cleaned my K&N Friday, and it's still not dry! I don't want to add the oil until it dries, then I will have to wait til the oil is somewhat dry to put it in.
Has any one cleaned their K&N yet? How long did it take yours to dry?

It does not have to be completely dry. Just make sure all the excess water is out of it. I usually let mine sit and drain for about 10 or 15 minutes (after shaking it out) and then oil it an let it set for another 10 minutes. I've used these filters in about 7 vehicles in the last 10 years, have always serviced the K&Ns that way and have never had any problems.

DOes it make a difference in accel after you clean it? I know it wont be drastic.

Hmmm, oil and water don't mix does it?

I would not put any oil on it until it is completely dry. Maybe put a fan over it or something, or set it outside,

fast46triton, the only difference after you clean it should be effeciency, they lose alot of effeciency when clean, and it takes a while to build up the dirt on it to catch other dirt,

I havne't had to clean mine yet only about 10,000 miles on it in 1 year, though I did reoil it a month ago, I don't plan on cleaning it for at least 30,000 miles, unless I get it really clogged up.--I don't want to lose any effeciency since it was relativley clean when I checked it.

msparks- that makes sense. (water and oil)
I cleaned the Throttle body and looking at that made me want to do the filter too.
It is finally dry now, so I will put it in tomorrow.
Running on an open OEM now, 48 hrs won't hurt with limited driving.

Well I cleaned my K&N today and it took around 25mins for it to dry out in the sun. After cleaning it (first time in 12,000 miles) the truck felt like it revved a little quicker nothing special https://www.f150online.com/f150board/smile.gif
