Would it be easier to sell your truck, then just by a new one?

I agree...it would most likely be easier and cheaper in the long run to just sell your 4.6L and buy a 5.4L F-150.

For the amount of money you get raped on by selling a 2yr old truck, you could change out 5 motors.
Look some say don't, but if your good at turning a wrench... DO IT. Just call you junkyard. A good one can seach out a motor for you. I found a f150 1999 5.4 with only 9000mi for only 2k. Flex plate on your old will work fine and the trany the same. Even the computer will work. SuperChip it, or just get the module from the truck the motor is coming out of. I'm doing one, for I need the 5sp and ONLY a 4.6 came with the stick!
Good luck... Semper Fi

I saw on ebay a lightning motor about a week ago for asking price of 3000. This is a new crate 5.4 supercharged engine. I don't know if it's still available or not.

If you are considering this swap, please keep me informed privately. I'm thinking about it also.

svtaudio,

Putting in the 5.4 is the easy part. Remove old 4.6 install new 5.4. You will also need the PCM from the 5.4 and the engine compartment wiring harness. The 97-99 4.6 had coils with wires the 5.4 has coil on plug. There are some other minor differences that I can not think of right now. Do some more research before jumping into it. I wouild invest in shop manuals from Helm. Why not just modify your 4.6. Chip, headers, K&N FIPK, Cat back, Supercharger. A lot easier than engine swap.

svtaudio,
Keep me in mind if you decide to swap out the 4.6, as I would be interested in buying it from you.

I should think you would want to do the Tranny as well. It would be different in a 5.4L than the one in your 98 4.6L.

Look at this site:
