After market products.

I've got a question; I hope some here will be able to answer. I just bought a new 2002 F150 XLT, I love it; started looking at stuff to dress up the outside but decided anything I put on will take away from its natural beauty. So read about the "K&N air intake" and the "Superchip", will these items effect my Ford warranty? Does Ford have an official position on these types of after market items?

I guess I'll try this signature thing here too.

You are protected by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Ford can only deny coverage if they can prove the aftermarket item caused the specific failure. They can only deny coverage on that specific item and cannot void your warranty. This comes up all the time. Do a search for more info.

To be honest, I don't know if they have an official position until you break something. Most dealers service departments will turn you away for a warranty repair if you come in there with a Airflow kit and a superchip.

The trick is to keep all stock equipment in your garage and just put it back on if you go to the dealer. Here is a great article on installing the chip.

Some dealerships will sell you one, install and warranty a SuperChip.

depends on where you go. a freind says that the dealer he bought his car from puts aftermarket products on and classifys them as add-ons. nothing has happened to his car so i dont knoow if they cover that "add-on" under warranty or not
