New 5.4L engine
I have a 1999 Ford Expedition which was manufactured in March of 1999. I just had my engine replaced for piston slap (only 4600 miles on the odometer). How can I tell if I received a new 2000 engine or a rebuilt engine? There is a white label on the side of the engine that reads:
0G876AA
Ford Windsor Ontario Canada
000240371
612 01-24-00 54L
Has anyone experienced a noise coming from the A/C compressor after having a new engine put in? The dealer says I am being "noise sensitive" and that the noise is normal. I didn't have this noise before. It is the loudest when I leave the car in park and run the A/C. Instead of a 15 second noise when I start up my engine for the first time, I now have a constant squeal and my vehicle sounds noisier.

Fast46 is correct, you received a new engine..and it is evident by the date on the side: 01-24-00 54L
Your dealer is full of it! There should not be any squealing from the A/C. A few others have posted similar noises and had their serpentine belts replaced. The noise did eventually come back for some of them. My 5.4L..and in fact BOTH of the 5.4L Tritons I have owned NEVER have made a noise as you are describing. If you did not have this noise before, and now you do...then take it back to them or ANOTHER FORD, LINCOLN, or MERCURY dealer. Any of them are authorized to work on your vehicle.
Best of luck!

YOU DID RECEIVE A NEW ENGINE. I KNOW BECAUSE I'VE HAD THREE ENGINES. I’M ON MY THIRD IT HAS 300MLS ON IT. THE ANSWER TO THE A/C COMP. WAS THE SAME STORY THEY GAVE ME. THE FIRST ML OR 2 IN THE MORNING IT SOUNDED LIKE A DIESAL. THEN SLOWLY OVER TIME I LOST POWER AND MY TRANS SHIFTED ARATIC. THE SECOND ENGINE HAD A LOWER END KNOCK UNDER A LOAD. I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED ON THIS ONE YOURS TRULY BLUE 1999 F-150 4X4 SUPER CAB. 8700MLS
