Now Neal, don't be a bad influence on Izzy. He's always abided by the speed limit(ers).

What gear ratio did he have? Did he have any modifications? If his had some mods, it would be hard to believe you beat him by 3 lengths. My dad has a 98 chevy with a 350, it has 255hp, the only mod it has is a filtercharger.

I have a hard time believing that a automatic 4.6 w/ just a chip, filter, and exhaust would beat the guy's truck by two or three lengths. '98 350 had 255hp, 97' 4.6 had 225 or 220 cant remember which. You probably had around the same torque numbers factory. Z71's are geared 3.73 factory, or at least most of them are. Now w/ all your mods, I'm estimating you have around 255 maybe? 15 for chip, 15 for exhaust, 5 for filer(very liberal for filter). Was his all factory? Factory size tires? Ext cab? Auto?

BlackNTan,

Its 220hp. Heres how he adds up. 25{chip)+15{exhaust}+5 filter, so thats 265hp.

Nickster,

Great Job! When I was stock, I raced a 1993 Ford F150 5.0 Auto, Reg Cab, lOng bed {4x2} with 3:55 gears and beat him by 1 and 1/2 truck lenghts. I can only imagine what I could have beaten him by if I had your mods!

Well this is only relevant because of the racing stuff, but my Dad just got an Excursion with the V10. He has low gearing (some where in the 4.10 range). We raced and he stayed right along side me. I had about 600lbs extra stuff in my truck but I was suprised he could keep up. Its all about gearing. Just my .02

Wink

I have beaten every Z71 I lined up with. The "extra cabs" I beat by several Truck lenths, and the "reg cabs" only by one Truck length.
I only have the 4.6 with K&N and chip, stock exhuast.
I don't even know their motor size, cuz they were too PO'ed to stop and chat afterwards. Not sure if they were madder at the fact that a Ford beat them or Girl!

(edited to reflect it was not my intention to exagerate about HOW many Trucks lengths, as I couldn't actually SEE how far behind me it was. I was only guessing based on how long I was waiting at the light for them. OK?
I thought I win for ME was a win for Ford, but Heck I can keep it to myself if it bothers you guys!
I don't need to brag, I already got MY rocks off when I beat those guys!)

Thumbs up

Chalk up another one for FORD!

I did the same thing to a 99 or 2000 Z71..which had a couple truck lengths on me. The guy would not even look over at me at the next light (I don't blame him). The Z71 sure looks cute in my mirror!

I better keep my comments to myself. This seems a bit exagerated.

Fast: Sounds like you've raced 3 old F-150's First a 95, then a 96, and now a 93. Which is it? I think your making up stuff now.

I raced a chevy extended cab 2wd w/vortec 262 5-speed (200hp) with my 89 F-150 4x4, It only has true duals, and he only beat me by maybe 3-4 feet. There is a 10hp difference there, and I was driving a 4x4. 265hp versus 255hp, isn't going to make 3 car lengths. At least if he knew how to race. Sorry guys, I don't buy it.

Pastmaster,

Quite saying things like that. I said WE OWNED a 93' and a 95' and I think the one I raced {not one I owned, duh} a 93 or 96, not sure.

Oh, my bad. That style was made from 1992-1996. You can tell first by looking at the wheels. If they have red caps, it would be a 1992-1994, black on 95 and 96's. Then look at see if it has a CHMSTL on the cab, 94 and newers have that. How did you know it had a 302? 1992's have tiny front air dams only, rest have large ones. If it had the aluminum rally wheels look for rivets, if it has them ,it would either be a 92or a 93,newer didn't have rivits.

No hard feelings. I knew it was a 302 because I knew the guy.

Pastmaster...

You sure seem to be going around the message boards calling the 'integrity' of members into question.

What's the deal?

If FAST of all people said they beat a 5.0L...(in another post) he did. I am sure Nickster did the same..these are some powerful trucks....

In my case..you can 100% believe what I posted. Have you even driven a 2000 5.4L F-150? The reg cab version is the fastest stock truck (excluding lightning and the like) on the road today.

No flame intended....just an observation. Overhead cam engines are strong..and no, they were not just created for emissions requirements....by the way...Horsepower is not what gets you up to speed...it's the torque and the Triton motor puts a whole bunch of it (much more than the others) to the rear wheels and on the ground. That's why the F-150 has the highest torque rating of all the full size trucks (Ram, Tundra, Silverado). Torque is what gets you up and going...Horsepower maintains it. And since the Triton motors are right up there..but with more torque than the rest at the lowest RPM..guess who wins.

Again....no flame intended...I've been reading your posts...and look at all of the other posts from members who are confirming their "kills". Is everyone's integrity being called into question?
