Angry What a mess.

I have a 97 F-150 with the 4.2 engine. It only has 44K on it. I posted a message a little while back about an engine noise. I did get the engine apart and what a mess.
The number 4 piston rod is bent and the piston is busted on the bottom. This is the really strange thing. There is no evidence of any water having got into either the oil or the cylinder itself. The mechanic can't figure what might have bent the rod. My guess would have been water in the cylinder, because it would have taken some very hard to compress in there, like water.
This is the really sad part. Easy Care (the extended warranty company)is talking like they want to repair this engine. Since we don't know what bent the rod, I have a feeling I will have to do this again. That is provided Easy Care can actually get past their fixation on a lubrication failure.
Thought this might be useful info. for some other 4.2 owner in the future. Will let you guys know what the outcome is.

Yes please do keep us posted on this subject, cause my is in the shop now with coolet leaking some where. No noises yet...maybe I'll be lucky and no other damage is done to my motor. Been leaking anti-freeze a month now. (inside the motor some place) Found nothing outside leaking on the motor.

Question

MotorcycleMan-

Kind of off-topic, but I'm in Lexington also and would like to know which Ford service departments are good and which to avoid. I'll be receieving my new 2000 F-150 in a couple of weeks from Man 'O War Ford and really have no idea about good service departments in the area (current vehicles are Honda Accord and Kawasaki Ninja so I've never even seen a Ford shop). Thanks,

--Ryan
