Well, after being quiet for three days including a 1000 mile trip, it has started with the squealing again. I think it may be something else at this point. There is a sticky oily substance coming out from the a/c clutch, but only a little bit. The squeal is much worse than before and has a wonderful new howling sound at idle. Is the a/c clutch a viscous type??? What is this leaking out of it?

If it is a/c oil from the front seal--this will make the belt squeal because it is slipping...
A rebuilt compressor or front seal is going to cost..But if this is it, you cant go on any further with the belt problem until you address this leak....

Thanks, Mach1.
That does make sense, but can the seal leak come out from the clutch instead of from behind the pulley? It has begun to make a whurring noise at idle now, and the idle itself is too low. It needs TLC pretty quick, I'm calling my dealer in the morning. Thanks again,,,,98

Yes--from the front and this is where you will usually see it appear.
The clutch slides on the crankshaft of the compressor where the front seal is...then there is a bolt into the crankshaft w/washer that holds the clutch to the crank...
Usually there is dye in the refer oil and a UV light will detect this..
We use a lime green color, that shows up as a yellow or blue????(I am color blind)...
Each of the liquids usually have a different color dye so you can determine which color is what fliud...
If you dont fix the leak it will recontaiminate the belt...
Make sure someone cleans the pulleys with degreaser so it doesn't contaminate the new belt...
While you are degreasing...do the a/c clutch as well...
Good luck...
