Stupid Leak

A few weeks ago, I replaced my thermostat. However, we have not been able to make the thermostat housing stop leaking every since. We have re-applied the housing and gasket(s) several times and have been unsuccessful. Our last attempt was using Gasket Maker designed for the housing. This also resulted in a leak. I am considering trying some of that Radiator Stop leak stuff. Comments? Thanks

Don't use the stop leak!!!! It'll just gum up the entire system and probably you'll still have the leak. It's mostly designed to stop leaks the the rad itself.......

I've not replaced mine yet, but I seem to recall reading in the shop manual that the t'stat has some kind of "notch" built in and it has to align correctly?

I'm only going from memory here, and I didn't really read a whole lot on it. Do you have a shop manual? I've got a Chilton manual myself.
